In a window with a frame of extruded profile members the exterior side of an edge portion of a thermo pane is supported by a first flange portion of the profile member and the inside by a glazing bead connected with the frame profile member. The main frame mainly consists of wood profiles, the exterior sides of which are covered by weather-resisting coverings. A hinge member at the top of the window comprises an edge portion (28) of an extruded profile member (27) forming a hinge pivot firmly connected to the main frame portion (20) at this side and a hook-shaped wall portion (6) of the opposite frame profile member (1) forming a hinge blade. At one of the other sides of the window means are provided to ensure engagement of said hinge pivot and hinge blade forming portions in the closed position of the window. Such means may comprise a sliding block (31) arranged displaceably in a track in the frame profile member, which block can be moved between a position opposite a retaining device anchored in the main frame structure for permanently securing the frame in case of a fixed window and a position in which it can be connected to a motion transfer member which is guided in a recess in the wood profile of the main frame for complete accommodation of the motion transfer member in the closed position of an openable window. Extruded profile members (20c, 24) may be fastened to the main frame wood profiles forming tracks (20b) for reception and movement control of accessories such as a roller blind (54), an insect screen (43) and/or a Venetian blind (51).
For shielding a window area (2) in a wall or an inclined roof surface (3) a roller screen, e.g. an insect net (1), is provided which comprises a spring-biassed roller bar (9) at the upper edge of the opening (2) and a bottom bar (13) at the lower edge of a flexible screen web (1). The bottom bar (13) has guide members (17) slidable in guide rails (11, 12) having at the bottom a locking device for arresting the bottom bar (13). At either end of the bottom bar, the guide members include a guide member (17) and a subjacent roll (18) pivotally journalled in the bottom bar (13) so that, from a first position in which it is in axial alignment with the guide member, the roll may be swung to a locking position outside the path of movement of the guide member (17). The rolls (18) are functionally connected and biassed so that the first position and the locking position are stable switch-over positions. At the end of each guide rail (11, 12), a stop member (23) is mounted in which a lateral cutout (25) is formed at the bottom of a track (24) in axial alignment with the guide rail (11, 12) for receiving and retaining the roll (18) in the locking position.
A window for installation in an inclined roof has a main frame and a bottom-hinged lower window frame which opens outwards to a substantially vertical position to form a breast wall. Each of two handrails forms the upper edge of a side railing between the lower window frame and a side portion of the main frame when the window is in the open balcony position. Each handrail has a length which is sufficient to form the upper side edge of the side railing when the window is installed at the lowest roof inclination within a specified angular range and can be cut to adapt its length to the actual roof inclination after the handrail is connected to the lower window frame and the associated side portion of the main frame. Vertical rail bars in each side railing are connected to the associated handrail by pivotal joints that are longitudinally displaceable in relation to the handrail and can be fastened in arbitrary positions along the handrail.
In an electric drive arrangement for a cord winding and dewinding winch (22), in particular for cord-operated screening and opening/closing devices for windows and doors, in which the operating cord (4) is connected with said device for moving it in one direction when winding up the cord on said winch (22), the latter being turned in one direction by means of an electric motor (12), while movement in the other direction is effected by a spring force acting on the device while dewinding the cord from the winch (22), the latter being turned by the electric motor (12) in the opposite direction, the winding and dewinding winch (22) for the cord is combined into a drive unit with the electric motor (12) and connected thereto by a transmission device, which is influenced by a braking force, means being provided for stopping the electric motor in response to suspension of the tension in the cord (4) caused by the movement in said other direction effected by the spring force, when dewinding the cord, said stopping means including a detector (18,19) influenced by the rotation of the winch (22).
In a window for installation in an inclined roof (1) the main frame (2; 3) includes a top-hinged upper window frame (12) and a bottom-hinged lower window frame (4) to be opened outwards into horizontal and vertical positions to form a shedroof above and a breast wall of a balcony-like enlargement. The lower frame (4) is hinged to the main frame (2; 3) in such a manner that its bottom section (4') in the open position is displaced downwards from the bottom section (2 ) of the main frame to reduce the height of the top edge of the frame above the latter bottom section.
