The present invention provides an image display device free of display defects and with high reliability to prevent destruction of electron sources due to injection of electric charge. On the outermost periphery of a display region, there are provided a bottom electrode 11 serving as data line, a scan line bus 21 serving as scan line, and dummy potential fixing electrodes 11D1, 11D2, 21D1 and 21D2 not contributing to image display, and these are connected with electrodes 70 and 80 with low impedance and constant potential.
A display drive circuit has impedance converters between gray level voltage wires and a ladder resistor. At the time of writing analog image signal voltages onto signal lines, the writing can be done in three separate phases.
For a display device having a solar cell and a power buffer for keeping stored electric power, a display system which has a low-power drive mode, self-contained power and no need for recharging or power wiring is provided. The display system includes a solar cell using a thin-film semiconductor, a power storage element for temporarily storing the produced power, a driving circuit, a matrix display unit, a display rewrite instruction unit for inputting screen rewrite and a control circuit and starts rewriting a display when power sufficient to rewrite an image screen is stored in the solar cell. The display device having remarkable portability and no limited battery life, which controls a display mode depending on the power produced by the solar cell, can display even when power generation is low and allows self-contained power even if the storage element has a small capacity, can be obtained.
An emissive display having pixels delimited by a plurality of scan lines and a plurality of signal lines intersecting with each other. Each pixel includes a memory circuit having at least a first inverter circuit including an electroluminescent device and including a display control circuit connecting in series a main circuit of at least one first transistor. The memory circuit stores display information of the pixel according to a conduction state or a non-conduction state of the main circuit of the first inverter, and controls an on state and an off state of the electroluminescent device.
In an organic electroluminescent light emitting display device comprising a plurality of pixels each of which includes an organic electroluminescent element emitting light by a current supplied thereto, a plurality of active elements including a first active element which acquires a data signal and a second active element which regulates the current supplied to the organic electroluminescent element in accordance with the data signal, and a capacitive element storing the data signal, the present invention utilizes a part of the capacitive element arranged in one of the pixels for a light shielding member which shields the plurality of active elements arranged the one of the pixels from light emitted by the organic electroluminescent element arranged therein or another pixel adjacent thereto so as to suppress image quality deterioration and smear appearing in an image display area of the organic electroluminescent light emitting display device.
